I was in connection with Sylvia Geurts. The more I speak about her is less- Super helpful, clear, approachable and Patient. Always ready to answer my 1000 questions and so many changes. She got always things approved at lightning speed. I was like- the approval or her getting back might take a few weeks but she there, next day with approvals always. If there were more than 5 starts, i’d give them all to her and ABN.

René Burgering was my mortgage advisor during the purchase of my home, and I truly could not have asked for better guidance. He walked me through the entire process step by step and explained what felt like thousands of things along the way. Mortgages are complex, and whenever I did not understand something, he patiently explained it again until it was completely clear. He was very accommodating with timing, and even during the holiday season, which I honestly did not expect in the Netherlands, he was always available for my questions. He consistently replied in a super polite and respectful manner, no matter the time or situation. I never felt like just another case. This is the second time we used the Abnamro services for our mortgage and all went really smoothly. The advisor was always friendly, just a bit difficult to reach him by phone, of course understandable maybe for his busy days but we sorted out all very well. Even though is not the cheapest service I'll always advise to use their expertise.

Martijn was friendly and took his time to explain us (expats) how the whole process works in the Netherlands (even bureaucracies not related to mortgage application). The loan offer was EUR10k lower than what had been advised by the mortgage advisor during the consultation meeting. As the offer only mentioned the loan amount and did not specifically mention how much would be our own out-of-pocket expense, I couldn’t realize such difference when signing the offer. In addition, the advice report we received after the offer had been accepted also mentioned EUR10k-higher amount, so I believed the desired full amount was approved, but it was not actually. Just 5 days before the signing date of the deed, it was found, not by the bank but by myself, receiving the invoice from the notary which was EUR10k higher than I had expected. Right after I found it, I raised this concern to mortgage advisor to seek any way to rectify asap, however he was not reachable immediately. After 2-day follow up both on emails and phones, finally I could connect with the advisor, however he mentioned it would take at least one week to apply for the new loan with the rectified amount. In that scenario, we would have to change the date of signing, which implied additional costs with notary, hence we needed to pay EUR10k extra to settle this issue, not relying on the bank. The advisor offered 1) EUR500 goodwill payment for inconvenience caused & 2) interest-free personal loan in case I would face the financial difficulties as a result of the above EUR10k extra payment. Item 1) was immediately actioned so I appreciated, however, for 2), when I consulted the actual amount and the tenor of personal loan, the advisor changed the tone of discussions and instead told he could not offer interest-free option and I needed to apply through the normal channel of personal loan in case of need. As a result, I didn’t use that route. Two issues - 1) manual error of the bank for the loan amount, from the amount actually advised through the consultation meeting. And 2) Inconsistency in the explanation, not keeping the prior commitment.

From the very first phone call to online meetings I felt very safe and supported. During the process I had tons of questions and my every email was responded in not even a day long time. With care. Process was fast and digital. The guidance and updates were very sufficient. I would definitely recommend ABN AMRO!
We had an advisor, Jo-anne who really helped us with the whole process. We are very happy with her, would recommend it to anyone! She is very thorough, works very hard to deliver all the documents and helps you questions and concerns at any time. The only minus point was to receive the advise report in dutch even though we had to pay extra for translating all the documentation and for english services.

Received support at every step during the application of a housing loan and also prior to finalizing the house. Also received nice recommendations for dealing with other parts of purchasing the house making the experience quite smooth.
The whole process went well and was fairly smooth, considering my complex situation in the Netherlands. The agents spoke English very well and clearly explained all my options and risks. There were no surprises — everything was well communicated upfront, and questions were well answered. I would definitely work with them again in a potential future mortgage in the Netherlands.
