Mostly great teachers, competent management, bad organisation
My experience was satisfactory at best, which is mostly related to very poor organisation.
This started with the offer for me to do my exam in a relatively short time, which they were actually not able to facilitate. I had multiple different teachers in a chaotic, constantly changing timetable. I had to do most of my lessons with someone that doesn't speak english (my dutch is poor), even though English classes were promised.
If you call to book/change a lesson they will take your data and tell you they will call back. In about 1 out of 8 times this is also the case, but mostly you have to call again and again and again, otherwise you're being fully ignored.
Lessons are being cancelled last minute, without a proposal for a replacement. The last couple of lessons before my first exam were all suddenly canceled, which left me with many hours (that i've initially paid for) less experience before my exam. This was followed by my instructor forgetting to pick me up for my exam, another instructor feel asleep while i was driving, felt disoriented and then disappeared for 20 minutes mid lesson.
Infuriating, however management offered me a free follow up exam and some extra lessons, which was greatly appreciated.
Whenever I had direct contact to management they were incredibly forthcoming and managed to find a suitable solution immediately! So I felt like the problem might be coming from the layer between management and instructors.
Because I also need to highlight the absolutely great teachers I had. Durmus taught me a lot and has phenomenal patience. Clayton might not have the best time management, but he is great at teaching you how to not stress out in any situation, which was so valuable for me to finally get my license.
Leila did the same for me just before my exam - besides giving great tips, she prepped me really well and reminded me how to keep focused. I'm grateful for all of them - they're the reason why I don't regret my decision in going with anwb.
