I really enjoyed this course because I could practice and improve my English conversation with daily intersting subjects. Mary is a great teacher, very enthusiastic and easy going, perfect to teach the conversation class.
The lessons were quite focus on conversation skills but I missed more tricks for communication skills. However my overall rating is high and I would recommend it

The course helped me to improve my dutch but I wished in some more exercises and more examples about the perfectum, imperfectum.
fun and learning at the same time. required a lot of time for studying to keep up, especially when we startdd to cover 2 chapters per week.

Dear Michael, It’s good to hear you had such a positive experience with our teacher. Of course, in a group there will always be students with slightly varying levels for all the different language skills, but in fact all your peers were also at an Advanced level (they also did an intake test and the teacher assessed their level to be equivalent to yours). Furthermore, this course was a general Business English Course, not a Cambridge BEC Exam Preparation Course. For that, you would need to take private lessons, which suit some students better anyway, as they can focus more specifically on their personal needs. Goede cursus voor examen voorbereiden,met een goede docent!
This course was not what I was looking for as I dont need to do the NT2 exam. It was way too much grammar and rules to learn at once. The focus on grammar was so high that tge lessons ended up been very boring and complicated. Made me loose my interest in learning Dutch.

It comes as a bit of a surprise, however, to hear that that course was not what you expected, as we remember discussing with you what type of course this was before you enrolled. Whether a student is planning on taking the NT2 PII exam or not, it is indeed a challenge to reach this next level of Dutch (B2) and necessarily requires a structured revision of all grammar so that all the language skills have a solid foundation and can be further built upon from there. We learned practical and useful things rather than a lot of the technical and content that you would receive in some other course
Overall it has been good. I would like to have spent more time reviewing vowel combinations and syllable emphasis in the first lesson. I feel that the teacher is good, but the information in the book is not laid out well or intuitively.
Dear Scott, Thank you for your feedback. With regards to the pronunciation, the first lesson is always quite overwhelming, so we provide extra exercises on KickstartNet so that students have the opportunity to revise and practise pronunciation at home by listening and repeating all the different vowel, consonant and dipthong sounds in Dutch. Repeated listening and reproduction of sounds is the most effective way to improve pronunciation. We are sorry you found the book ‘Nederlands in Gang’ difficult to use. We have tried to help students navigate and make the best use of the book by producing our own handout of materials to accompany it, as well as a lesson plan to show where everything can be found. I think was too fast for me but I feel that I learned a lot
I think quizzes on the previous lesson in the beginning of each class would be very HELPFUL to get us to memorise things
Dear Rindy, Thanks for your comments. It is indeed useful to have quizzes every now and then, especially for things that you need to memorise, like vocabulary. That is why we have in-class vocabulary quizzes at the very start of most of the lessons, as well as extra quizzes and crosswords on KickstartNet so that you can practise in between the lessons. We would recommend to make use of the extra week of access to KickstartNet that you have to review all the material and let it sink in a bit more. All the best with your continued language learning! Excellent teacher. Lovely rooms The chovokate cookies are a fantastic touch! Course materials are ok but could be much better. The most helpful grammar excercises are by far the ones in Coutinho, but don't always work to the students' advantage. For example, there is no way to self-check certain excercises, and for some others, if you check after entering each answer, Coutinho doesn't update the oversll score as you enter additional answers. My biggest disappointment is with the book. It's so important to learn the rules well, but they are all in Dutch, at a time when one diesn't yet fully understand Dutch. So the Kickstart handout is useful, although it doesn't cover all the topics. The grammar sections in the book don't stand-out enough; the layout could be better. And it would be better to have cross-references : for example in the various sections dealing with modal verbs (p. 81 and 135) and the various uses of "zullen", which are covered in different parts of the book.
