After a two -week intensive course I really see a huge improvement of my Dutch language. An important progress is that I'm no longer afraid of speaking with Dutch people. This course is energy-consuming but definitely worthwhile!

Clean facilities, friendly and easy to approach staffs, very good teacher who is very particular of the pronunciations of dutch words, not boring and very approachable as well and i've learned a lot on my starterpack course.. better than i expected.. and im even recommending the school already for some of my friends who have plans of taking a dutch course.. all in all it was a positive experience, i felt i could have benefitted more with more effort from teacher in classroom especially when starting a new lesson, speaking 100% dutch in a starter class doesn't help students to capture important elements even if they try

Sometimes we have one student saying there is too much English in the beginner’s course and at the same time another student saying that there is not enough. A very good start for my stay in the Netherlands. I have learned the basics and the course have given me the confidence to start speaking Dutch i the shops and restaurants. I will definitely take the next course level too.

The course pace was good. The teacher did a good Job of evaluating the students strong points and weak spots and adjusting his teaching pace accordingly.

They teached me a lot and now I know much more.
This was the week when I began speaking Dutch. I loved Cárola. She was a superb teacher. She employed multiple ways of engaging us in speaking, reading, listening. Nobody was left behind and everybody had great time. Every grammar was clearly explained in English, all the rest was encouragement for us to speak Dutch. That being said, my second week (stepping stone II) with Kickstart was not so delightful. With the new teacher no new words were written on the board unless specifically requested, grammar was only explained in Dutch, we basically just did exercises out of the book. It felt more like a tutoring session than a real lesson. It was very disappointing seeing how little progress everyone in the group has made - and hearing it being blamed on the "level of the group" (instead of trying to change ways of teaching the materials) did not help. I must write it down in this review, because the school requests you to review them right in class at the end of the last lesson, which is not really ideal to describe a longer evaluation, especially when others are waiting for you, not to mention that it is not clear in that moment that what you are writing is actually going to be online (instead of being used internally). I did not appreciate that aspect either. However, I would recommend the school, if you end up with the good teacher you have a good shot at beginning speaking the language!
Dear Juli, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We are glad you had such a positive learning experience during your first course. It is a shame that the second course did not meet your expectations. There are many points in your feedback which I have addressed individually via email. On the whole, it seems that the main factor was a clash between you and the teacher (who has received consistently high reviews in the five years he has worked at Kickstart). Unfortunately these types of situations can happen in such a personal profession as teaching, even with the best of teachers and the most dedicated of students. Kickstart is aware of this and we are sorry that we were not given the chance to address this issue while there was still time to do something about it. As I emphasised in my welcoming talk and as regularly encouraged by the teacher, we always prefer students to come straight to the Administration to discuss any concerns they might have so that we can address them before the end of the course. It is perhaps worth mentioning that every other student from your course gave a positive review and some even specially requested to have the same teacher again in a future course. On a similar note, we are glad that you are also keen to continue at Kickstart and that you would still recommend our school to others. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
