The teacher was very friendly. She customised the classes to our suggestions (e.g. more speaking, some writing examples, etc.). She was also very patient and understanding but at the same time trying to stay firm. In general, my experience was very positive. Only, at the beginning of the course (as the timing of the lesson was quite tight), the number of students made it difficult for our teacher to focus on each one of us - especially regarding pronunciation. I know it's a group class, but the Chinese language can be tricky to get the correct way of speaking. All the same, the atmosphere in the class was relaxed and it was easy to follow the pace of the lesson.

I joined Kickstart’s first Communicating in Chinese level 1 course without a specific goal and basically because the opportunity came along. From my previous experience with Kickstart, I trusted it would be good - and it was. Xiyu is à good and engaging teacher who made our lessons enjoyable while maintaining a good pace, our small group enabled enough time for questions and discussions, the atmosphere is friendly and all staff are great. So rewarding to actually find yourself able to understand a few words in a Chinese dialogue on tv! Xiyu’s being Chinese and being able to tell us first hand about Chinese customs and culture is definitely a bonus.

The teacher was very understanding and fun. In the beginning we focused a lot on pronunciation and the pace increased over the weeks. We had a small group and we managed to cover a lot. Half way through the course more interactive speaking cards were introduced which I liked a lot. It is a very different kind of language than the ones I am accustomed to so it was a challenge. But by working hard it was still doable.

Being the first Chinese class group I was very satisfied. The material and facilities were excellent and the teacher was open to feedback and suggestions, adjusting the classes to attend our learning goals. The pace picked up along the course, which was an extra motivation to study at home (much needed) and to continue with the follow-up course. The course does not focus on writing but characters are presented whenever you ask for. Highly recommended!

Very professional approach to language training and its logistics.

Excellent facilities and efficient teaching. I enjoyed that we did not necessarily stick to the lesson plan 100%, and so allowed freedom and flexibility in discussion

I feel that i did learn about the KNM knowledge through this course but teacher does not go into details of explaining things, leaving me confused after class. I find that our teacher is little impatient and expected us to know everything, I would appreciate if I could vet some explaination while going through the practice questions. Im a little disappointed about this course. There is also not enough practice on listening and writing, there is no correction on our actual writing so we do not know our mistake.

Good teaching.. i learned a lot..

While I loved the class and found it useful, I felt like the homework was not distributed equally enough. Sometimes it was next to nothing, while other times the amount of new vocabulary and grammar that was to be memorized in one go was above what is to be expected. The instruction was great, the teacher managed to create a very pleasant atmosphere in the class where I was always excited to come.

It was not what I expected

The teacher didn't had too much patience, and it makes the atmosphere not so good sometimes, if we are here is to learn and as the teacher makes some students feel bad in front of others it makes that we don't have then willing to continue learning as the way of teaching makes to be disappointment instead of encourage

After doing the Advanced course dutch, I have some tips and tops to share: TIPS - Teacher spends too much time talking. I feel he does not give space to students to talk enough. - Teacher does not put pressure to do the homework. It is appreciated at the tame, since we are all adults and it is our responsibility. But I feel one of the reasons we follow a course is because we may need some push! TOPS - Good organization, every day you know what you are expected to do for homework and in class - Goo energy and intentions of the teacher - Good intranet - Good level

Ik vond het erg good

As a native German speaker it was not so hard for me to get used to Dutch language because of that and because other participants were a bit slower this course was sometimes to easy for me. I would love to have more tests and a kind of grade.

Paul has a very nice manner of teaching. The class is not intimidating and there are many opportunities to practice speaking Dutch with your fellow students. By the end of the session, I felt like my comprehension has greatly improved and I look forward to continuing with my studies.

Paul is a fantastic teacher. I enjoyed studying Dutch with him.

Goede stemming, goed material, vriendelijke contact

The class was a good overview, but I would need additional classes to actually understand the language. The book randomly stopped explaining things in English, which was not very helpful. Some of the conjucations didn't have rules either, which I still find confusing. My instructor was very kind, and the class would probably have been more effective if it was more than just once a week. I think I almost know the basics, but would definitely need more practice.

Everyone was very helpful and pleasant to talk with. It was a great course to help with basic, day to day Dutch. I also enjoyed meeting many new au pairs! :)

It has been a good experience, good learning environment.

Everything was organized. The teacher was really great and very helpful. The speed of the course was just the necessary; not too slow and not too fast with some useful review sessions.

First I was in the good level I think but it evolves really fast (as there are only 12 courses of course) and after I was a little bit lost and became stressed. But all the team, specially Christine, was really understanding and reacted really kindly with proposing to put me in a lower level. And after I felt so much better, so thank a lot to all the team.

I had already some basis and I am very happy that I have improve my language. I will for sure continue the cursus.
