Reviews for Kickstart School

This was I think the fourth Chinese course at Kickstart I attended. This time mainly reviewing what we had been studying during the previous course, but also paying more structured attention to reading and writing characters, which is great and fun but also rather time consuming if you aim to really master them - which I do. Same small group as in the previous courses, so every opportunity to ask questions. Teacher Xiyu is lovely, enthousiastic, patient and motivating. Truly interesting and enjoyable course, highly recommendable.

Already my 7th course at Kickstart School with our teacher Xiyu, was again a worthwhile experience. She keeps us motivated to study hard in class but also makes us do the necessary homework. The online learning platform KickstartNet is very helpful for that. I have enjoyed the course very much and I have made reasonable progress

Kickstart has good teachers, however the organisation is completely un-equipped to deal with students. I had covid and missed two lessons, and they made a big deal to give me these two lessons. In fact offered only one of them to redo. Their excuse is that teachers are freelancers. But then how does that become my problem? An individual course that you pay a lot, and you are completely disrespected in exceptional circumstances, like missing one because you were sick. I find this appalling, not client oriented, unprofessional and so on.

Friendly, professional good teachers and course material

I have enjoyed the course, a good teacher and good course material. When I signed up for this course I expected the course to be face to face, however, due to Covid-19 the course was given as an online course and I didn't expect that I would enjoy and appreciate this method of online learning so much. It's convenient although pronunciation can sometimes be a bit tricky via Zoom. But overall a nice course for beginners.

I have always really enjoyed your courses. Teacher Katie Hardwick is very good at teaching, and she always makes you feel very comfortable. I would like to do another course later.

Really enjoyed the fact that the program is very well organised. you know what you will get from the beginning and there is a plan at the beginning of every lesson. Elena (tutor) is always well prepared for the class and fast at responding our homework. Thank you! The program overall is a bit intensed. But I can understand that is necessary for language learning. Before sign up, you just need to mentally prepare yourself for this ;)

The class organization was thoughtful and thorough, with opportunities to improve on reading, speaking, and listening to the language. Class sizes were small enough to allow for personal attention and instruction, and the online as well as the printed exercises provided a lot of exercises for review and practice.

I like the course, but for the exercises in the books I miss more examples. Sometimes its described in Dutch and I did not get how to start

Very organized course, with a bit of everything (reading, vocabulary, grammar, speaking, etc.) Also very useful since all what we have learnt are things we can use in our daily lives in the NL. Intense but worth it

1. Excellent teacher, full of patience and teaching things in many different ways, always checking if everybody has understood. 2. The material, especially the book and the quizlet exercises of couthino help learn hundreds of words of vocabulary with little effort.

Good, prefer physical and not online course.

It was intensive for me as I work 40 hours a week.

I had a great experience with Kickstart, the online classes were interesting and had a good quality. The topics were varying and relevant, and I improved not only my grammar, but also understanding and speaking about many new topics. The teacher was excellent and very passionate. I improved my Dutch and additionally learned much about the Dutch culture.

Very good learning experience. Excellent teacher and amazing classmates. Lots of practice on speaking, vocabulary and grammar. Strong recommendations for any Dutch learner.

Professional courses delivered thoughtfully and creatively.

I always have a lot of fun in Paul's lessons - while also learning a lot. I appreciate that we learn about Dutch culture and that he always finds ways to make the lessons interesting. Speaking was a special focus this course and we all feel that we have made great improvements. Thank you Paul!

I think is a very good program very well organised with very good materials as well. In my particular case I took the program before moving to NL and I think it would be more productive to take it once there to be immersed in the dutch culture You also need to ensure to have enough time for doing the homework and lesson preparation to take full advantage of the course

Paul is a great teacher. He brings a lot of fun and clear explanations. But as I said it is difficult if you are not in Dutch language environment.

I started a Dutch course at Kickstart School and I quickly started to use the language more often and with more confidence. The course materials were great, I found it nice that during the course we had time equally for reading, writing, and speaking. I recommend this school to everybody who is eager to learn Dutch!

The course was a great combination of speaking, reading and writing in an interactive setting (i.e. breakout groups, online quizzes). Felt a bit disappointed when we had to switch to online classes, but Zoom worked well too.
