Very interesting class, but a bit too much to learn for beginer level.

I really enjoyed this course because I could practice and improve my English conversation with daily intersting subjects. Mary is a great teacher, very enthusiastic and easy going, perfect to teach the conversation class.
The lessons were quite focus on conversation skills but I missed more tricks for communication skills. However my overall rating is high and I would recommend it

Dear Michael, It’s good to hear you had such a positive experience with our teacher. Of course, in a group there will always be students with slightly varying levels for all the different language skills, but in fact all your peers were also at an Advanced level (they also did an intake test and the teacher assessed their level to be equivalent to yours). Furthermore, this course was a general Business English Course, not a Cambridge BEC Exam Preparation Course. For that, you would need to take private lessons, which suit some students better anyway, as they can focus more specifically on their personal needs. This course was not what I was looking for as I dont need to do the NT2 exam. It was way too much grammar and rules to learn at once. The focus on grammar was so high that tge lessons ended up been very boring and complicated. Made me loose my interest in learning Dutch.

It comes as a bit of a surprise, however, to hear that that course was not what you expected, as we remember discussing with you what type of course this was before you enrolled. Whether a student is planning on taking the NT2 PII exam or not, it is indeed a challenge to reach this next level of Dutch (B2) and necessarily requires a structured revision of all grammar so that all the language skills have a solid foundation and can be further built upon from there. We learned practical and useful things rather than a lot of the technical and content that you would receive in some other course
Overall it has been good. I would like to have spent more time reviewing vowel combinations and syllable emphasis in the first lesson. I feel that the teacher is good, but the information in the book is not laid out well or intuitively.
Dear Scott, Thank you for your feedback. With regards to the pronunciation, the first lesson is always quite overwhelming, so we provide extra exercises on KickstartNet so that students have the opportunity to revise and practise pronunciation at home by listening and repeating all the different vowel, consonant and dipthong sounds in Dutch. Repeated listening and reproduction of sounds is the most effective way to improve pronunciation. We are sorry you found the book ‘Nederlands in Gang’ difficult to use. We have tried to help students navigate and make the best use of the book by producing our own handout of materials to accompany it, as well as a lesson plan to show where everything can be found.
