dishonest personnel and exaggerated price for services rendered

We had to bring our car in as an engine light was on. When we handed over the keys, we clearly agreed that the garage would call us before any repairs were done.
Not only did the garage do the repair without our approval (unprofessional item #1), we were also presented with a very steep bill with excessive numbers (#2) for very simple repair work. We had to pay 300 EUR plus for 1) simply reading out a P0340 error and replacement of the camshaft sensor. For your information, reading out errors can be done with a bluetooth dongle for EUR 3 on Ebay or EUR 9 in the Netherlands. There is a 15 minute Youtube video on how to change the sensor, and the price charged for the part (EUR 80) goes for max EUR 30 online.
When we confronted the garage with this SCAM we did not get a sorry for #1 and we were told that the price was "perfectly normal". for the service rendered.
To sum up: dishonest personnel and exaggerated price. BE AWARE!
